Do you only do stump grinding?
That's how we started, and we're still one of the busiest stump grinders in the area, but no — we're a full tree surgery company now, handling crown reduction, felling, forestry clearance, and estate maintenance too.
What do you do exactly?
We remove all kinds of tree stumps. Our stump grinding machine grinds stumps that are left behind and causing a nuisance, safely reducing them to chippings and sawdust below the surface — clearing the way for landscaping, building projects, or just getting your lawn back.
I've just had a tree cut down and the stump's been left — why should I have it removed?
Left to rot, a stump can attract disease and fungi that spread to other trees, shrubs, and plants nearby. It can re-sprout and start growing again. And most people simply want the area back — for re-turfing, for looks, or to reclaim the space.
How deep do you grind the stump?
Normally around 16 inches (40cm) below the surface — deep enough to regrow grass over where the stump used to be.
How much do you charge?
It depends on the size and diameter of the stump, the species, how accessible it is, and how tricky the surroundings are. Get in touch and we'll talk it through — we're always happy to work out a fair price.
Can I get a discount if I've got several stumps to remove?
Yes — if there are a number of stumps on your property or land, we'll work out the best and most competitive price for the whole job.
Can I hire a stump grinder and do it myself?
You can, but we'd genuinely advise against it. The machines are heavy, noisy, and can work out expensive once you've paid for power and blades — but the real issue is safety. They're dangerous in untrained hands. Leave it to people who do this every day.
Will I be left with a big hole after the work's done?
No — we push the stump chippings and dirt back into the hole created by grinding. On some larger stumps this can leave a small mound rather than a hole, which settles over time.
Can I use the leftover mulch from grinding?
Yes — the leftover material is just wood chips and dirt, and it makes decent compost once it breaks down. Good for flower beds and vegetable patches.
